Quaker vs A-frame vs lean-to: which coop style is right for you?
All three styles can make a great walk-in coop. The differences come down to headroom, how they handle snow and rain, and the look you want in your yard.
Quaker

A Quaker roof has a short front slope and a longer back slope, with an overhang over the door. It sheds rain and snow well and gives good headroom at the front, which is why it's the most popular style for walk-in coops.
A-frame

Steep roof planes that meet at a tall peak. Snow slides off easily, and the tall center gives plenty of standing room down the middle.
Lean-to

A single sloped roof, tall at the front and lower at the back. Clean, modern lines, and it fits nicely against a fence or the side of a building.
Timber frame

Exposed heavy timbers and a rustic, premium look. Usually the most expensive style, chosen for looks as much as function.
